Fisher Youth Thearte Group

Just Another Bloomin' Day

World War II London arrives at the Fisher Theatre complete with air raids and blackouts.

This exciting new play tells of a day in the life of a family during the London Blitz. With a son away fighting and a daughter in munitions, life is hard enough for Billy's Mum without the nightly trips down to the Anderson shelter, the daily queues for rations, a nephew gone AWOL and a cantankerous old granny.

Through scenes, songs and inteludes we catch glimpses of life in wartime London - the dance hall, the shopping queue, the air raid shelters, the pub, the bombsites, the soldiers, the spivs and the kids all play their part in a play that is at times funny, dramatic and very moving. Woven through with the wonderful songs of the 30's and 40's, there was plenty of opportunity for singing and dancing.

This performance saw some of our younger members able to take on larger roles which they enjoyed. The author Jean May attended many of the performances which gave the cast a big lift. The directors of this show Cathy Cill and Darren France (who also played Dad) deserve our extra special thanks for their tireless work and for dontating so much of their time to making this show the truly wonderful thing it was.
