The Wizard Of Oz - at the Fisher Theatre

There's no place like home, No place like ..... The Fisher Theatre

Wizard Of OzOur show is based on L. Frank Baum's turn-of-the-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, in which a resourceful American girl is snatched up by a Kansas tornado and deposited in a fantastic land of good and wicked witches, a talking scarecrow, a cowardly lion, a tin man, and more. The book was published in 1900. Over the years it has sold millions of copies.

The original film of the Wizard Of Oz , made in 1939, starred Judy Garland but our cast of 8-13 year olds will rival her performance.

The 4 performances of this show were well received by a sold out theatre which surpassed our expectations. The children out did themselves to put on a spectacle worthy of the great film.

Directors Note

It has been really fun working on this production - it has been a pleasure to revisit the familiar songs and characters, and Roger Eno's fantastic music has added something really special. But it has also been hard work, and the cat have really risen to the challenge of staging what is actually an extremely complicated show.

It has been great to see so many eager new faces, and I'm really delighted with the work that the group has put in to creating their characters, learning the songs and making up the dances and ontributing to the group as a whol. There is inevitably a lot of hanging around at rehearsals while other people do their bits, so well done to everyone for hanging in there and I hope you enjoy all their hard work.

Images coming soon.
